CFS PTO Calendar of Events

Mission Statement: The purpose of the PTO is to enhance and support the educational experience at Children First School, to develop a closer connection between the school and home by encouraging parent involvement, and to improve the environment at Children First School through volunteer and financial support.

We will kick off the 2011-12 school year with the 3rd annual Carnival in the Courtyard Friday, September 16. Throughout the year, we host different activities to support teachers, staff, and students. During the holidays, we host a Christmas Store and provide a luncheon for the teachers and staff. We host a chili supper and basket raffle in late winter. We sponsor monthly "Star Students" and auction a "Date With Your Teacher" once a year. We hope you will support our efforts and join us to help make your student's educational experience at CFS a positive one.

Researchers have been studying the effects parent attitudes and actions have on their children's academic success for more than 30 years. The results have been consistent. Anne Henderson and Nancy Berla summed it up in their book A New Generation of Evidence: The Family Is Critical to Student Achievement, which reviewed the existing research: "When parents are involved in their children's education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better."
